i-aXs®, the revolutionary web-based data management system, was created by reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter to give insurance companies the ability to visualize and manage their exposures and examine potential losses at a granular level. Since its launch in 2005, location intelligence was a key component of i-aXs, which married Pitney Bowes MapInfo technology with insurance company data and analytic and disaster modeling capabilities within its multi-functional platform.
In 2010, Guy Carpenter harnessed MapInfo location intelligence technology in new and even more potent ways within i-aXs. By fully integrating this technology with Microsoft’s Bing™ Map technology, the i-aXs mapping engine has become more robust and been combined with an improved navigation interface. This integration has enabled i-aXs to reach new heights of performance and optimize the user experience.
The user experience of i-aXs is now even more interactive, with ease, speed and power that surpasses even many of the most popular online mapping services. With the click of a button, users can transform any report containing geographic data into a map. They can pan over locations and zoom-in within seconds without refreshing the page. When considering underwriting a particular location, users can zero in on the site quickly and examine multiple variables, such as the location’s distance from a coastline.
Unifying MapInfo with Bing Maps and Guy Carpenter data, i-aXs has catapulted its already market-leading abilities to enable insurance companies to understand, assess and manage risk online at a higher level.
