NYGIS is a Java Web Start application that uses MapXtreme Java (or MapX 5.0) as map-server over IIS or Tomcat web servers. This is a very stable and scalable client/server solution that made our organization go from about 20 users to over 400 users.

NYGIS extends the standard features of an GIS application to incorporate client drawn layers which when saved is defined in XML and can be shared between users whithout acually editing the common MapInfo layers.

Feature attribute data can be extended to work as UID’s in various external database queries. The codemass of this project has resulted in a fairly extensive GIS Java-programming framework called MapZ. MapZ can be used to create sub-applications/applets. NYGIS is a essentionally an full implementation of the Mapz API.
